Whether you’re still working your inversions on the wall or you’re holding them in the middle of the room, there’s something in this workshop to help boost your love and endurance of handstands safely and efficiently.

In this workshop we will explore extensive core exercises, build on trust and balance, work on alignment based inversions, presses and mounts to handstand, spotting, as well as the use of props, partners and more!

Must have 1 year of practice and a willingness to play upside down!

$35 prepay, $40 day of event.

Ayurvedic Workshop: Make Your Own Healthy Platter: curry, lentil soup, chutney, raita and more w/Dr Vaishali, Saturday, June 14th, 2:00 – 5:00PM

Learn about Ayurvedic spices and how to make your own healthy platter!

Participants will learn to make:

-Sprouted Beans
-Paneer Curry
-Lentil Soup
-Raita
-Chutney

We will be cooking with Ayurvedic spices. At the end of class participants will enjoy the food made in class with brown rice. All recipes will be GLUTEN FREE. Participants from the previous workshop will learn to use the yogurt, paneer and butter that they made!

$60 per person includes all materials.

Please join us on Sunday, June 8th for a special evening of restorative yoga, energy healing, and sound healing. Cosetta opens each session through song and prayer to call in healing, supportive energies, and then will guide you through a restorative asana sequence while clearing the energetic field of each participant. Daniella guides the entire journey through the vibrational resonance of crystal bowls, a Paiste Planetary gong and her voice. The sounds will be gentle yet powerful, and will lead to deep states of meditation and healing.

We will end with an extended regenerating sound bath savasana. The combination of these two
powerful practices will help bring movement to your chi and guide your body to self healing.

Ayurvedic Workshop – How to make your own yogurt, cheese, buttermilk & ghee w/Dr Vaishali, Saturday, May 17th, 2:00 – 5:00PM

Ayurvedic Workshop – How to make your own yogurt, Indian style cheese – paneer, butter, buttermilk, and Ghee with Dr Vaishali ND, BAMS

May 17th, 2:00 – 5:00PM
Duration: will be 2 to 3 hours.

In groups of 4 or 5, we will be making the following:
Yogurt: We will learn to make yogurt from organic milk. Organic milk and Cultures for starter will be provided. Participants will get to take the start for yogurt home with them. Please note, it takes 6-8 hours for bacteria to convert milk to yogurt.
Cheese: We will make Indian style cheese and will get to taste paneer. Yum.
Butter / Butter Milk: We will make cultured butter and butter milk. First we learn how to culture the cream. Note: Fermentation process via bacterial cultures about 24 hours to make cultured cream. Dr Vaishali will have the cultured cream ready for participants to make butter and buttermilk out of it in the workshop. Once made, we will taste the final products!
Ghee: Finally we will learn to make ghee. Cultured butter is the starting material for making ghee.

-PLEASE note: we encourage you to bring your own jars for final products.

Do the things you love to do, that energize you, vitalize your health, and make you smile and laugh. Help someone. Take time to be quiet each day. Practice thankfulness. Practice letting go.

Spotlight Teacher:
Mary Kay Bisignano Vadino

Mary Kay is a dancer, choreographer and yogi. Her enthusiasm for movement is clear in her practice and the classes she leads here at Kula. Mary Kay teaches Vinyasa yoga on Mondays at 6:30am, Tuesdays & Thursdays at noon.

A note from Mary Kay:
Greetings Kula Community,
I am super excited about the Spring Yoga Challenge and wanted to take a moment to share my enthusiasm with all of you.  Let me first say that Kula is an amazing place to practice, that is to work and play at becoming more fully embodied.  I am so grateful to be sharing my gifts as a teacher and simultaneously receiving support and inspiration from students and other teachers and staff. As someone who is passionately committed to moving through life with clarity, strength and grace, I relish the opportunity to be apart of this challenge and to share it with you.

Being a dancer, choreographer and all around movement junkie has left me predisposed to incorporating movement into my yoga classes.  While many of us may have initial hesitation about “moving” more in our practice, the body is quick to respond with increased awareness and a sense of freedom and joy.  The 40 day Challenge is a prime opportunity to open up to a broader, more diverse and dynamic practice.  I feel Forest Yoga and a Vinyasa practice compliment each other in a profound and powerful way.  That is why I am so excited to venture into this transformational process and look forward to taking this Challenge with you.

Join us in this study of the breath. Discover what is just beneath our awareness; a complex rhythm of the breath that ensures our body gets what it needs to stay alive. Turn your intention into the subtle body – use prana as a guide to link the energetic body to the physical body and the mind to the spirit. Workshop will include a 90 minute asana practice!

What is Trance Dance?
A sacred ceremony of dancing, playfulness, and sharing in creativity! Like the ancient tribes we start each dance by gathering in circle around a symbolic fire. We set an intention and pray to be present to what is. Then we listen, feel, cradle, flow, shake, pound, laugh, sing, rest and meditate.

$20 prepay, $25 day of event.

Physiology of BREATH workshop w/Anna Davis
Tap in to the dance of your mind, body and spirit by listening for the song of your breath.
April 19th, 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.

When we exercise, our breath speeds up. When we rest, our breath slows down. Moment to moment, these subtle adjustments to the rhythm of the breath ensure that our body gets what it needs to stay alive. These dynamic adjustments occur in the absence of any conscious effort and most of the time are just beneath the surface of our awareness.
However, if we turn our attention to observing the breath, we gain access to what yogis call the subtle body. In the language of yoga, this deeper listening uses breath (prana) as a guide to explore pathways that link the energetic body (pranamaya kosha) to the physical body (anamaya kosha) and to the mind and spirit.

Please join Dr. Anna Davis, physiologist and yoga instructor for a workshop entitled Physiology of Breath. In the workshop, you’ll learn the scientific principles that govern respiration, explore yogic breathing techniques (pranayama) and then incorporate what you have learned in a 1.5 hour all-levels yoga class. Class will be followed by a question and answer session.
